About Us
This October (2015) Belen Jesuit Preparatory School will mark its 5th year of fundraising and promoting Breast Cancer Awareness. So far, students, families and employees have raised over $30,000 for this worthy cause. This year we hope to exceed our previous fundraising goals and increase awareness by hosting the third annual Battle Like A Wolverine 5K.
Battle Like A Wolverine 5K is a family friendly event which aims to promote the importance of early detection, screening and awareness. The 5K will take place on Saturday, October 24 from 9:30 a.m.- 11 a.m. on the Belen Jesuit school grounds.
Throughout the month of October all tests will be printed on pink paper and pink items will be sold in the on campus bookstore including blue & pink ties to wear throughout the month.
On Friday, October 2nd, Breast Cancer Awareness Day, food served in the cafeteria will have elements of pink, a special video produced by students will debut and the school website will have a pink ribbon on its homepage. The school’s Facebook page will also display a photo of the school “going pink.”
“Belen has courageously offered to be a champion in raising awareness for Breast Cancer while raising funds for the Baptist Health Breast Center,” Lidice Lascano, former Science teacher and founder of the Battle Up Club and coordinator for Breast Cancer Awareness at the School. “As a mom of two alumni, I have witnessed firsthand how the school's motto, "Men for Others" is threaded into the student’s lives and has a profound effect way beyond the classroom.”
Belen Jesuit is located at 500 SW 127 Ave Miami, FL 33184.
The net proceeds from all the above listed fundraising events and items will benefit our partner, the Baptist Health Breast Center. Together we strive to provide mammograms for uninsured individuals and support the Baptist Health Breast Center Care Coaches.
